Public consultation is a significant component in the decision-making process of local authorities. Youth and adolescents, often unrecognized and neglected in conventional social consultations, are of a particular interest. Due to the increased migration processes in the recent years, youth involvement in the local community development has been fundamental for mid-sized cities in the years to come. The opinion of this social group is as meaningful as the opinion of fully-grown residents. Moreover, it is worth ensuring education on civil society for youth and children from an early stage. Concurrently, consultations with young generation call for reliable technique and approach. The panel enables to examine the groundbreaking and experimental consultations carried out in 2009-2019. It is dependent on the experience based knowledge collected by Borys Martela in the report "Consultations with children and youth".

The acquired skills and insights of respective hubs varied both in methodology and in subject. The Organising Committee, representing both the public and NGO sectors, used various methods compliant with the provisions of Integrated Child Impact Analysis. Deliberations applied to the youth participation process in the strategic documents development, spatial planning, particular purchases and a Youth Centre development. A variety of methods were used for each consultation, including: study tours and field trips; photo-walking; workshops with the use of, among others photos, maps and mock-ups; surveys; public appearances. Numerous potential development paths (of a dreamer, realist and critic) were also analysed through the lens of various inhabitant groups. In a few cases, the consultation was combined with an analysis of which activities can/should be implemented by the adolescents themselves.

The panel together with Partners' Forum will facilitate more effective communication and exchange of experiences, promote Best Practice Contest and will launch cooperation in novel consultations in the Eastern Partnership countries (as it was with the civic budgets dissemination in Ukraine based on the Polish example).
