How we made it to BUSCALAN REMOTE VILLAGE! 🇵🇭🚶‍♂️

Описание к видео How we made it to BUSCALAN REMOTE VILLAGE! 🇵🇭🚶‍♂️

Join us on an unforgettable journey to Buscalan, a remote village nestled in the mountains of the Philippines! 🌄 From winding roads to breathtaking landscapes, we share the challenges and joys of reaching this hidden gem. Discover the vibrant culture, meet the legendary traditional tattoo artist Apo Whang-Od (who will be appearing on the upcoming videos) and explore what makes this place truly special.

Adding a bit of information after Carmela's speech on the video about Kalingas and Whang-Od, renowned as the oldest mambabatok (traditional Kalinga tattoo artist) in the Philippines, she was born on February 17, 1917, in the village of Buscalan, Kalinga. Considered a living icon and a national treasure, she is celebrated for her mastery of the ancient art of Kalinga tattooing, known as batok.

For decades, she has tattooed warriors and women from her tribe using traditional methods that involve a thorn, a bamboo stick, and natural ink. This practice, deeply embedded in Kalinga identity for centuries, serves as both a rite of passage for young men and an expression of beauty for women.

📌 Highlights:
The drivers who took us to Buscalan from Baguio city; Carmela and Tito Bryan did their research and contacted Aries de Taza on Facebook through Jo and the Walker Travel and Tours Agency (they were such a help cause we’ve seen vlogs of people going on their own and it seemed to be too uncertain for us). 🚶‍♂️
I found Bontoc stop to be a very beautiful town; wouldn’t mind to delve here next time! 👣
The part of the travel we did on foot took us almost an hour; you better be healthy to enjoy it cuz landscapes are truly amazing! 🎨
