A day after 14 people were killed in a fire incident at Mumbai's Kamala Mills, BMC has launched a massive anti-encroachment drive to demolish illegal construction in the city.
Facing severe criticism over fire incident, BMC officials arrived at Kamala Mills and targeted encroached structures built at Mills compound, Raghuvanshi Mills compound and Phoenix mall premises.
Demolition drives have been also carried out at Heera Panna Mall, China Garden, Revival restaurant, Krishna Palace, JSS Road and several other hotels in the region.
Meanwhile, the government has comedown heavily on accused officials and suspended 5 BMC staff and owner of the pub have been booked for negligence, besides other charges.
