Astoral loaded into Valheim beneath a gray, whispering sky.

The wind moved softly through pixelated pines.
The sea shimmered like broken glass.

But Astoral frowned.

“These graphics are terrible,” he muttered.
“They look like some cheap game from 2004.”

Mits stood nearby, quietly admiring the sunrise over the Meadows.

“They actually look a lot like WoW’s art style,” Mits said gently.
“It’s supposed to feel atmospheric.”

Astoral scoffed.

“No way. This is ugly.”

Then a soft flutter came down from above.

Hugin — the black tutorial raven — landed on a stone.

“Welcome, warrior,” the bird croaked kindly.
“I will guide you—”

Astoral didn’t wait.

WHACK.

The raven exploded into feathers and pixels.

Silence filled the clearing.

Mits stared in horror.

“Bro… that was the tutorial bird.”

“So?” Astoral said.
“Annoying NPC.”

From that moment on, everything went wrong.

Without Hugin’s guidance, Astoral wandered into the forest at night.

Greydwarfs chased him.

Trees fell on him.

He tried punching a boar.

He died.

Over and over.

Meanwhile Mits was crafting armor, building a cozy longhouse, and preparing for the first real challenge.

“Come on,” Mits said one day.
“We’re ready to fight the Elder.”

Astoral was busy complaining.

“The lighting’s bad.”
“The textures are weird.”
“Why does everything look blocky?”

Mits sighed.

“It’s literally the same stylized look as WoW.”

Astoral crossed his arms.

“Well I hate it.”

The day of the Elder fight arrived.

The forest trembled.

Roots burst from the ground.

The massive ancient being roared beneath the glowing altar.

Mits stood ready — shield raised, arrows notched.

“Are you coming?” Mits shouted.

Astoral sat by a half-built shack, punching a wall.

“This game sucks,” he said.
“And I’m still mad about that bird.”

So Mits went alone.

The battle was long.
Fire arrows lit the dark.
The Elder fell with a thunderous crash.

Victory echoed across the Black Forest.

Astoral never saw it.

He never heard the boss music swell.
Never felt the rush of triumph.
Never held the Swamp Key in his hands.

He logged off shortly after.

Convinced the game was bad.

Convinced the graphics were ugly.

Convinced nothing fun had happened.

Years later (in gamer time — about two weeks),

Astoral would see clips online.

Epic Valheim builds.
Boss fights.
Sailing adventures.

People laughing.
People having fun.

And deep in his chest…

Something hurt.

Not lag.

Not bad graphics.

Regret.

All because he:

• Killed the tutorial bird
• Didn’t listen to Mits
• Complained about graphics identical to WoW
• And missed slaying the Elder

The saddest enemy in Valheim wasn’t a boss.

It was Astoral’s own stubbornness.
