In 1999, Nigeria transitioned from a military system to a democratic government, and today marks 25 years of democracy. 25 years of Nigeria's democracy is possible because different categories of Nigerians play active and meaningful roles in making it so.

In this first of a five-part #25of25 series, we celebrate 25 influential and everyday women who have contributed to the birth and strengthening of Nigeria's 25 years of democracy.

These women represent just a fraction of many other women who have been instrumental in the continuous development of Nigeria's democracy. #25of25
