I bike-packed in to Glen Feshie and wild camped near Ruigh Aiteachain bothy. I'm glad I brought the tent because the bothy was heaving. I counted 14 tents outside the bothy. I apologise if I have made the area appear quieter than it really was in my film but having hordes of other hikers in the shot is not really the look I'm going for.

The next day I hiked to the summit of Mullach Clach a' Bhlair, a rather undistinguished munro. Despite its lack of character, the area itself feels very wild as this is on the edge of the high ground of the Moine Mhor plateau in the Cairngorms. It's a vast area that has some of the harshest 'Arctic' conditions in Scotland. I hiked this in September and even this early in the autumn the temperature was around 0C and there was a dusting of snow on the high peaks of Cairn Toul and Braeriach. Funnily enough, as I write this, just a few days later, the winds have swung back to the south and temperatures on the summits are back up to +16C. Winter comes in fits and starts.

• MOUNTAIN SAFETY Remember that hiking and mountain climbing can be dangerous. The videos on my channel are for entertainment only (other than where specified). Always prepare well and be willing to abandon a trip if it becomes dangerous due to weather or unexpected trail conditions. If you are new to hiking and the great outdoors it's always a good idea to go with a guide or a more experienced companion. And remember - give the wildlife some space, leave no trace, go quietly and enjoy it out there!

• A word on DRONES I know how annoying it can be to hear a drone whizzing about when you are trying to enjoy the peace and solitude of wild places. I'm also aware of the potential to disturb wildlife with them. I always avoid flying the drone when there are other hikers around. It's one of the reasons I tend to hike at less popular times of day and in mid-week and I avoid using the drone if I do see others nearby. I never fly a drone towards wildlife or where birds are likely to be nesting.
