Everybody is taught candlestick patterns, and often told probabilities for their success, but without knowing how or why they form it's impossible to understand why they are or are not successful.

In this short video I explain how a cup and handle (or inverted head and shoulders) can be explained by price interacting with historical trend lines. Once you see how price action respects and rejects these lines you can not only judge with much greater certainty whether that particular pattern will be successful or not but get into the move far sooner than expected.
