At Sonoma in 1991, race leader Ricky Rudd took the white flag, but on the next lap, NASCAR gave the checkered flag to the 2nd place car. Rudd was given the black flag (without any warning) and decided to put him back to 2nd place (even though he was the leader coming to the checkered flag) Rudd came down to our Charlotte studio and explained his take on that day.
