1. 9-5 don’t reward results
I learned this lesson in two jobs
First in college doing data entry with students' information in Fasfa Database ( doubts fancy but It was just copy pasted pretty much )
I got paid $8 bucks an hour like my colleague did, and I could do 3 times the amount of students than he did but we got paid the same
Same thing when I worked at the backend of the gym, imputing members' information in the data base, I could do 2-3x more than the people who worked with me ( but got paid the exact same )

When you realize this you could do two things:
Continue doing the best work you can
Do What everyone else does

The lessons I learned is this:
The work you do, represents you, do good work for you not for the company
And now that I’m Christian I try to do the work for God
But that doesn’t mean stay in a job that doesn’t appreciate your results

2. Job security Is not real
People think I’ve been here for years so I’m safe
I do an amazing job, so I’m safe
My boss likes me, so I’m safe
Or maybe it is because you are pretty
I walked into the office one day:
Bob had been working for 15 years in the company
Lina was beautiful
Kyla was really good at her job and everyone liked her
They were all packing their boxes because they all got fired overnight
Company had cutbacks
Sorry not sorry

3. Value your Time over Money
My last 9-5 job paid me about $13-15 an hour I don’t remember
I had to take a bus at 6am to get there on time
I would get home at around 7pm maybe

You say:
Work just wasn’t 8 hours
It was 12 with the commute
And 20 with me trying to get some sleep
That’s not a life, it's trash I know what it's like
I learned this:
I think jobs like this for a short time may be good
But for the most part, they rob us of so much time
You never get to enjoy the fruits of your labor

4. Business is Business ( ask for a Raise, based on your performance )
I always felt lucky when I got a job
I never asked about the salary or anything
It was just like I took whatever they gave and hoped they would increase it

But there are a lot of companies a Lot of Jobs (at least in America )
So learn the market, learn how much your job is worth
Ask for a raise when you deserve it based on your performance
Business is business

Tip: be willing to walk away

5. 9-5 can be Careers or Building Blocks or traps (be careful)
I had a friend, let's call him Jim, he was all business
Wanted to graduate, get a job, and not waste any time ( that man was focused )
I was always worried about how he ended up

But lets talk about this:
I used my 9-5 to give money to build a business
Some folks love their 9-5 and build wealth and continue working their
And some folks are trapped in them

What I learned is this:
Whether you like your or not, you should but yourself in a position where you don’t need to work for money
