Commedia! - Taming of the Shrew - American Conservatory Theater - 1976 PART 11

Part 11 of the 1976 production - by the American Conservatory Theatre (ACT) in San Francisco - of a brilliant Commedia del Arte' style rendition of William Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew".

The famous finale, in which Katherine proclaims in a beautiful soliloquy that the duty of any wife is to her husband's "honest will". So much has been made of this famous ending over the hundreds of years it has been performed. William Ball, as Director, makes a keen choice here (watch for it), but is Kate being entirely cynical and manipulating? Or has the couple found a true balance in their tumultuous marriage? Only the patron of the play can choose for themselves.

If you ever have the luck to become part of a Commedia-style play -- here is a smorgasbord of how it is done! :)
