In the cool, calm of dusk, bachelor stallions Komodo, Cohen, and Earl make their way from water — alert, in tune, and always aware of their surroundings.

In this remote part of Utah, we are building a fertility control program to help keep them wild and free.

While these horses are skittish and sensitive to the smallest changes in their environment, our team is demonstrating that it’s possible to safely, humanely, and effectively administer birth control on the range, via dart. PZP is a reversible, non-hormonal fertility control vaccine that doesn’t alter natural behaviors or disrupt herd dynamics.

There’s no excuse for the BLM to continue using helicopters when humane alternatives are available.
