In this lecture we will review: How to Think Critically About Disciplinary Perspectives; and How to Move From a Position of Dualism or Relativism to One of Critical Pluralism.

People who apply critical thinking consistently are said to have a critical thinking mindset, but no one is born this way. These are attributes which are learnt and improved through practice and application (Monash.edu).

What It Means to Think Critically About Disciplinary Perspectives – becoming interdisciplinary involves learning to think critically about disciplinary perspectives on subjects appropriate to interdisciplinary study.

To think critically about disciplinary perspectives, it is important to have, or be willing to develop, a more sophisticated conception of knowledge that makes sense of the multiple and often conflicting perspectives and insights that one will encounter (Repko, 2020).
