Thomson 757-28A(WL) G-OOBE | Skiathos - London Gatwick | Takeoff, Inflight & Landing

Onboard Thomson's Boeing 757-28A(WL), G-OOBE for the 3 hour, 10 minute flight from Skiathos Island airport to London Gatwick airport. Video includes takeoff, inflight, long approach and landing video.

Boarding commenced at around 12:20 and the flight was due to depart at 13:00, but we were faced with a 15 minute delay, waiting for our clearance to be delivered. Once underway we taxied out to runway 02, at Skiathos, before backtracking right to the end of the runway. Passing many planespotters, we turned a tight 180 degrees and came to an immediate stop. The engines were spooled up slowly before being engaged into all 100% of Rolls-Royce RB211 takeoff thrust. The brakes were released and the aircraft thundered down the runway, getting airborne very quickly. Shortly into the climb, the takeoff thrust was reduced to a slightly less powerful climb-out thrust and the infamous RB211 'growl' became a dominant sound, almost completely drowning out the flight attendant's announcements. After departure we headed north towards Northern Greece and Thessaloniki, before turning right and passing over Croatia and Northern Italy. After passing over Austria and Germany we began our descent, passing over most of Central Belgium and over the English Channel, towards East Anglia where a further descent and a few more turns brought us right on track for a straight approach down to Gatwick's runway 26L.

Similar to the outbound flight, most of Europe was covered in layers of stratus cloud which meant the view from the plane wasn't that interesting.

Thomson were great with their flights, once more, and the crew couldn't do enough for you, going out of their way to make your journey enjoyable. Both pilots were very nice, and accommodating, allowing me to get a quick view of the flight deck before disembarkation.
