Matter” enters as the ultimate ground — the substance said to persist when all else changes. It claims to be undeniable, the bedrock of existence. But look closer: science unravels it into particles, probabilities, equations. Direct experience reveals only fleeting appearances — color, sound, sensation. “Matter” is not found, only imagined. The hardness softens, the weight lifts, the foundation dissolves. What remains is not material, not immaterial — only the appearance of appearances, arising without substance. “Matter” was never real — only the mind’s attempt to make solidity out of change.
