The movie Alien was an amazing work of creativity and horror. It came from an amazing amalgamation of artists, filmmakers, writers, and the like. When it came out in the summer of 79, I was living alone in an apartment in NYC and the night I saw it I had to sleep with the lights on. The following surfaces have been inspired by the egg. In the movie, one of the explorers from a spaceship from Earth happens upon a field of eggs. Safe in his protective suite he approaches them with inquisition. When he gets close the thing opens up and a creature pops out, blasts through the face shield of his helmet, and forces its way down his throat. It was superbly horrifying and suspenseful.
