Symmetry Breaking and Magnetism - Prof Stephen Blundell - OUPS Lecture

Описание к видео Symmetry Breaking and Magnetism - Prof Stephen Blundell - OUPS Lecture

What is symmetry in physics? How does symmetry give rise to magnetism? Can symmetry save Donald Trump?

In this Oxford University Physics Society talk, Professor Stephen Blundell unpicks what it means for something to be symmetric and shows how symmetry - and broken symmetry - in quantum physics leads to magnetism and more.

Professor Blundell is a Professor of Physics at Oxford University, in the Quantum Materials Group. In addition to his research, he has written many books explaining his work and related topics to a wide range of audiences, and has appeared on national television and radio.

With thanks to Oxford University Physics Society for hosting this talk and giving permission for this video.
