Origin of Instant Triple Talaq [Divorce in Islam] | Javed Ahmad Ghamidi

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbâs said: "During the time of the Messenger of Allah it, Abü Bakr and the first two years of 'Umar's Khilâfah, a threefold divorce (there consecutive divorces in one sitting) was counted as one. Then 'Umar bin Al Khattâb said: 'People have become hasty in a matter in which they should take their time. I am thinking of holding them to it.' So he made it binding upon them." - Sahih Muslim (Volume 4, hadith no. 3673)
