Short Review: Playing the demo of Été was a wonderful and charming experience - and i was very suprised after playing it. I thought its just a game with relaxing and cozy gameplay and just painting a bit. Yeah .. the narrative and the first 2 hours of playtime were awesome, i just want more!
Été is a Walking and Exploration SImulator, with also quiet and chill moments in between, where you mostly paint your own creations. You, as the new painter in Montreal, need to pay rent to stay in your new building - to make it short and not spoil to much - so you gonna make your greatest hobby, painting with watercolor, to a living. While exploring the city with the cozy gameplay (you "paint" stuff in a complete white world and make it colorful), you are collecting everything, from chairs, food, windows, trees .. everything what you will find outside, hundreds of things, and with that, you are drawing your own paintings. Its crazy to describe it, try to take a look in the gameplay video :D its so fun and rewarding! I really like the gameplay, for me, i never get in touch with such a game.
Since everything in the game seems hand-drawn, it has a very beautiful and delightful feeling to explore the world - the graphics are just stunning and everything from the ambience, the sounddesign and the day/nightcycle feel so immersive - mixed with a wonderful soundtrack, sympathetic characters and a charming world.
The demo itself has a lot of content. After my 90 minutes i played through the rest of the demo and i was wanna play more! Its in a way very relaxing and cozy, on the other the "grinding" of painting for selling them, using them for decoration or just draw and try something new is so rewarding and addicting, since everything, no matter what ive had created, looks so cool!
So far, i did not find any negative aspects of the demo. I wont mention performance stuff, that was totally okay on my side and as every demo, its potencial is very high and i really hope, its getting much attention on its full release!
