Colour Theory is the study of how colours interact, how they are perceived, and how they can be combined effectively to create visual harmony or contrast. It is widely used in art, design, fashion, marketing, and interior design.

Key Elements of Colour Theory

1. Colour Wheel
A visual tool that organizes colours in a circular format:

Primary colours: Red, Blue, Yellow (cannot be created by mixing other colours)

Secondary colours: Green, Orange, Purple (made by mixing two primary colours)

Tertiary colours: Red-orange, Yellow-green, etc. (mix of primary and secondary colours)

2. Colour Relationships

Complementary colours: Opposite on the colour wheel (e.g., blue and orange); create strong contrast

Analogous colours: Next to each other (e.g., blue, blue-green, green); harmonious and calming

Triadic colours: Three evenly spaced colours (e.g., red, blue, yellow); balanced and vibrant

Monochromatic colours: Variations of one colour using tints and shades

3. Colour Properties

Hue: The name of the colour (red, blue, green)

Saturation (intensity): Brightness or dullness of a colour

Value (lightness): How light or dark a colour is

4. Colour Temperature

Warm colours: Red, orange, yellow – energetic and inviting
