Earlier today I decided to test out the DSLR Remote software from onOne Software. I've had a play with it before but never actually given it a proper workout. One thing that I've always hated about tethered shooting is the fact that the Canon EOS software always had a habit of crashing on my Mac. This made creating time-lapse videos a pain, forcing me to practically stand next to my Macbook in case the software crashes. A bit of a pain really when you try to take several hundred shots over a period of a few hours.

So today I stuck my camera on a tripod, pointed it at my ugly mug and set the intervalometer going at 1 shot every 30 seconds. I didn't bother with the settings (I think I shot on Program mode) so you'll notice erratic behavior with the shutter settings jumping all around the place and auto focus not making up its mind.

The test lasted a whole 5.45 hours over a total of 594 frames.

Unfortunately there was 1 bug that I found - the battery indicator didn't work and my camera suddenly shut off at the end with no warning whatsoever. I should have realised that earlier on when I noticed that my camera seemed to have magical batteries that lasted forever but I assumed it was just running better as I was shooting in JPG, something that I almost never do.

In the end though, I'm happy with the results of the software - not a single crash occurred, unlike the official Canon software. I can't wait till the new revision is released in a few days time.
