Описание к видео Can a bad hair transplant be redone? | Dr.Gabel | Hair Restoration

Dr. Steven Gabel of the Gabel Hair Restoration Center answers the question "If I had a bad hair transplant, can it be redone?"

Steven Gabel FACS Portland Oregon hair transplant surgeon

Here I had a question come through the internet asking "if somebody had a bad hair transplant can it be redone?

The answer to that is - I don’t know, and the reason I say that is because when somebody has had a prior hair transplant, I need to see the work that was done in order to evaluate if I’m able to fix it or what we call revise it.

In most instances, yes, I am able to revise it and fix it. So for example, let’s say you had a hair transplant transplanting the frontal hairline and the surgeon brought the hair too far down, it was sporadic, and it looked horrible. In that instance, the repair would be actually to remove a lot of those grafts back to a natural hairline.

Let’s say somebody had a hair transplant in the crown and had thousands of hairs planted there and they were in all sorts of different directions, can I revise that? I necessarily wouldn't remove the hairs in that instance, but I would plant hairs to help camouflage the bad ones to help to make the overall crown look good.

The hair that was transplanted in the crown is good hair, it's going to add density, and what I would want to do in that instance is give some additional direction to it to re-establish the whorl, to maybe get the fringes retransplanted to make it look more natural.

Let’s say somebody had a hair transplant and it was Follicular Unit Excision, and they way over-harvested the back of the head - I’m not sure anybody can fix that surgically unless we go hair unless we got the hair from somewhere else, so maybe a solution to that person would be tricopigmentation or scalp micro-pigmentation.

So to answer that question "Can it be redone?" - I don’t know because what I want to do is see the person. I want to know how many grafts were transplanted. I want to know where the grafts were transplanted. I want to know what it is that they don’t like about it? What is not natural?

Once I’m able to see the work, then I can come up with a treatment plan to fix it, revise it, and remove it - whatever is in the best interest of the patient.

I hope that answers your question.

Thank you.
