Shangri-La was built on one level and offer spacious accommodations of exceptional comfort for up to eight people. The property is particularly well suited to outdoor living, entertaining, and special events. The house was built by Harry Llewellyn, a noted equestrian whose son Roddy was engaged to Princess Margaret. She stayed at the Villa many times on her way to Mustique, and the Princess Margaret Room in Shangri-La is dedicated to her.
You approach Shangri-La via a majestic 75ft. drive lined with stately Mahogany trees, and giant ferns. The grounds are sumptuously appointed with tropical plants and fruit trees that surround the house, a traditional Spanish Hacienda.

Great Room

As you pass through double doors, flanked by bronze pineapple sconces, you enter the Grand Salon Sala Manjer. Crystal Versailles chandeliers at either end of the room elegantly illuminate the tray ceiling. To one side there is a seated living area with comfortable sofas and lounge chairs and French doors lead you to the adjacent gazebo with its soothing fountain. On the opposite side of the room is the dining area, with a mirrored buffet used for elegant dinners and afternoon English tea. A plantation style desk unites these areas, allowing you to enjoy the trade winds and the Caribbean Sea beyond.

The Courtyard

Large Mahogany louvered doors open onto the loggia and courtyard. The furnishings include upholstered sofas and chairs, and a dining/ game table. Ceiling fans with chandelier lights suggest the Colonial period. The focal point of the courtyard is a three tiered coral stone fountain with carved dolphins. From there you pass through gates leading to a patio surrounding the large swimming pool. Comfortable sofas, chairs, lounges, and sun umbrellas are found throughout the pool area for your comfort.

Kitchen

The kitchen is to the side of the house, adjacent to the media room, butler’s pantry, and dining area. On either side there are large work counters with a granite-topped center island. There is a large refrigerator with ice maker, a laundry room with washer and dryer, maid's quarters, and an herb garden.

There is ample seating with an upholstered sectional sofa and chairs. A collection of videos, DVDs and CDs, as well as games and cards are provided. The Bedrooms

The villa has four bedrooms, each air-conditioned and beautifully decorated to provide an elegant home. The rooms are named in accordance with the decor:

The White Room which is adjacent to the media room, has a queen size bed festooned with white sheers. Tropical bedside tables and a colonial style mahogany desk and chair, complete the venue.

The Polo Room contains two single beds, side tables, a mahogany armoire, and a large bureau. The decor is decidedly polo. Mahogany pocket doors open to the garden and pool, with a view to the sea.
