I will venture to say this may be the most beautiful spot I've visited in Iceland. I know there's still a lot I haven't seen in my three trips, but this place is breathtaking! Along with the primal Múlagljúfur Canyon (translates to "Mules Canyon") there are two spectacular waterfalls - Hangandifoss and Mulafoss - that add to the Jurassic era appearance of the area. The hike is a little tough, but take your time and enjoy it and you'll be there in a little over an hour. If you want to go all the way to the top (incredible views!), that will take another half hour or so.
