EMS Synthesizer Series: Pink Floyd's Secret Weapon

Today we discuss the instrument responsible for the pulsating synth sounds on many of Pink Floyd's most psychedelic tracks as well as the Who's "Won't Get Fooled Again''. Electronic Music Studios did what seemed impossible at the time; create a commercially available synthesizer with intricate abilities all within one distinct wooden box with a modulation control joystick and matrix plugboard to enhance its interconnectivity. Between the EMS VCS3, EMS Synthi A, and the big, hulking Synthi 100 used by Radio Belgrade - Electronic Music Studios reputation for venturing into new sound synthesis territories pales in comparison to what was being done at the time.
