Welcome back to the Bucket list, this time we decided to take a little trip back to Mexico, oh man I love Mexico and their rich culture and when it comes to hoops they are everywhere. I brought some of my favorite hoopers with me

For a quick backstory In 2015 we started a programme called “Build Courts, Not Walls”, where we would travel across borders with basketballs, nets and supplies. It soon developed into us refurbishing and building courts, on this no border episode of the bucket list we are taking you along a trasfomotiinal ride to Tijuana.

Will also play a well decorated national champion team “the zonkeys” who issued us a challenge to play them on their home court…. it went a little something like this

… Elvin from NY, Buddha from Texas, Juice the Inglewood legend, Dame from Atlanta and BodyBag from Alabama and Brandon the bus driver from Florida.
To give you the backstory In 2015 we started a programme called “Build Courts, Not Walls”, where we would travel across borders with basketballs, nets and supplies. It soon developed into us refurbishing our first court in San Pedro, Belize, the Philippines and when we came back to Venice, we refurbished our home court and the movement started to spread like wildfire.

In early 2019, we were invited to play in the FIBA 3v3 tournaments in Mexico – which we won. The intention going to Mexico City was to expand and so with the money from the win, we decided to refurbish a court in Mexico City with the help of Riccardo Torres, my partner and global hoops ambassador. Riccardo initiated the project with a company called Innvictus, creating a programme called Legado Innvictus. Since then, Riccardo, like many others involved in the court refurbishment programme, “caught the bug” and the project is now almost their full-time job and life mission.

Tijuana has a lot of crime. When we started refurbishing the court in the projects blocks away from the border no one came out for the first three days. But then we found one kid, and then another kid and by the time day four of refurbishment came we had a dedicated team of about six kids that were there day and night.

The day before the opening, we came with the Hoopbus. We grabbed the whole crew and around ten of the kids, surprising them with full PUMA fits and sneakers, and we went to the Tijuana beaches for an epic sunset hoop session.

After the epic inauguration it was game time, the zonkey legends well decorated national champions issued us a challenge to play them on their home court… little did they know that us too are 3x Mexico champs…. it went a little something like thisMB01PUFKL3RYCMM
