In this Hyfindr Expo Highlights, at the 2024 Hydrogen Technology Expo, Philipp Schurig from Pfeiffer Vacuum + Fab Solutions presented innovations from their leak test module line, which enhances hydrogen system reliability by identifying leaks with precision. The primary product showcased was a modular leak test chamber, available in DN 300 and DN 500 sizes, designed to hold components under vacuum and pressurize them based on customer specifications, with flexibility to test at pressures from 1 to 10 bars. This solution utilizes Pfeiffer’s full array of in-house components, including the high-scroll series of pumps and leak detectors, ensuring seamless integration and service.
Philipp highlighted their experience-driven design approach, which allows quick adaptation for different prototype sizes without changing tooling. Pfeiffer’s tailored solutions include specialized modules for testing the leak-tightness of bipolar plates used in fuel cells, supporting fast testing cycles and easy adjustments for different production needs.
In addition to leak test modules, Pfeiffer offers a range of hydrogen-specific products, like Atex-certified pumps, valves, and the GSD 350 residual gas analyzer for monitoring gas compositions and material permeation. As a market manager for mobility, Philipp emphasized Pfeiffer’s commitment to customer-focused solutions, aiming to enhance efficiency and reliability across hydrogen technologies.
