SSC JE is an exam conducted by Staff Selection Commission (SSC). This exam is meant for the recruitment of Junior Engineers (JEs) in various branches of Engineering including Civil, Electrical, Mechanical and Quantity Surveying & Contracts. The purpose of this exam is to recruit candidates for Group-B (non-gazetted) posts in level-6 (Rs 35,400-1,12,400) of pay matrix of the seventh Central Pay Commission.
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has prescribed detailed eligibility criteria for SSC JE exam. All candidates appearing for SSC JE exam are advised to be aware of the SSC JE eligibility criteria carefully. Application of any candidate found not complying with the eligibility criteria for the exam at a later stage will be rejected.

Nationality/Citizenship
A candidate must be either:

A citizen of India, or
A subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or
A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
A person of Indian origin migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently setting in India.

SSC JE exam consists of two papers, papers - I and -II. SSC JE paper-I is an objective type test which is held in online mode. SSC JE paper-II is a subjective type test which is conducted in offline mode. Paper-I has 200 marks weightage and paper-II carries a weightage of 300 marks.
