I'ma Play Wing Commander Privateer MS-DOS with a PS3 controller - Part 2 - BLEENK continues his space adventures for a jump drive

Part 2 - Just obtained the Engine Upgrade 1 with the Afterburner, 2 Mass Drivers, a Missile Launcher with Heat-Seeking Missiles, and a Torpedo Launcher with pRoton Torpedoes. One more mission run and I should be able to afford a jump drive and the sector maps. Although I have the maps externally so I wonder if it'll let me jump without them actually purchased in-game or will I get "lost"...?

Additional stream improvements over Part 1:
* The game volume has been balanced with my voice volume
* I'm now running the game in Dosbox-X, which allowed me to "map" my PS3 controller's analog axes to look just like a 4axis 15-pin DOS joystick. I'm still using Joy2Key to map my controls to the game keyboard the way I like, but I'd imagine it can also be done with Dosbox-X's mapper tool. It's quite good.
* Dosbox-x also allows for a deadzone control for the joystick! If I run into drifting or sensitivity issues, I now have independent adjustments for each axis to mess with, the way it should be :)


I'ma play the original MS-DOS Wing Commander Privateer with the Speech Expansion Pack. I do also have the Righteous Fire Expansion Pack, which I will play in a future stream - gotta get through this set of missions first!

I am notorious for mapping controls for every game to a PS2/PS3 controller if I encounter even the slightest annoyance.

I even did this when I played World of Warcraft and I quite enjoyed playing rogue, mage, and druid characters - never touching the keyboard or mouse :)

I will share my mapping files here as well in case anyone else wants to try playing like I do.
