In the previous parts, we saw how the demon king Jalandhar conquered all three realms with his power and skills, becoming the ruler of the three worlds. However, the gods were not pleased with their defeat. Despite being the son of Shiva, they were troubled by his rule.
To find a solution, the gods consulted Sage Narad, who was sent to meet Jalandhar. When Jalandhar asked Narad the reason for his visit, Narad cleverly praised the virtues of the Trimurtis, emphasizing that Lord Shiva's power is represented in his austerity, dedication, and detachment. Narad described the beauty of Mount Kailash, enticing Jalandhar with its splendor.
In response, Jalandhar boasted about his wealth and the beauty of his wife, Vrinda, comparing her to Goddess Parvati. Narad then narrated the unparalleled beauty of Goddess Parvati, which led Jalandhar to desire her as his wife.
Feeling insulted by Jalandhar's deceit, Parvati sought Lord Vishnu's intervention, requesting him to deceive Jalandhar just as he had deceived her. Vishnu then created an illusion to deceive Jalandhar, leading to a battle between Shiva and Jalandhar.
During the battle, Shiva's vehicle, Nandi, attacked Jalandhar, causing havoc. However, Jalandhar managed to divert Shiva's attention by creating an illusion of beautiful apsaras. Taking advantage of the distraction, Jalandhar disguised himself as Shiva and approached Parvati, attempting to deceive her. But Parvati recognized him and became enraged. Jalandhar fled, unable to confront her wrath.
Enraged by Jalandhar's deceit and betrayal, Parvati cursed Vishnu that his wife would also be abducted someday. Devastated by the betrayal of his wife and her death, Jalandhar returned to the battlefield to face Shiva.
In the final battle, Shiva fatally wounded Jalandhar with his trident. As Jalandhar lay dying, Shiva explained that just as the joys and sorrows of waves are ultimately absorbed by the ocean, similarly, the soul of Jalandhar merged into him. Thus, the story of Jalandhar concludes with his demise and the absorption of his soul into Shiva.
