Описание к видео With These Weapons: The Story of Syphilis (American Social Hygiene Association, 1939)

This film shows historical reenactments of the discoveries of cures for syphilis. It begins with the discovery of the spirochete in 1905 under the microscope and the discovery of the Wassermann test. The film shows success in experiments leading to the diagnosis and cure of syphilis, though syphilis continues to be a leading cause of sickness and death. Discussion of the disease and its symptoms follows. A public health education program is helping to fight back against this disease, since ignorance is the greatest ally of syphilis. Presented by the National Anti-syphilis Committee of the American Social Hygiene Association.

Produced by the American Social Hygiene Association.
