This is a cool footwork drill used by the famous Ingle Boxing Gym in Sheffield, UK. This drill was developed by Brendan Ingle, trainer of Prince Naseem, Johnny Nelson, Kell Brook, and many other pro boxers.

“The Steps” drill is great for developing footwork, balance, and sense of distance as well as power and coordination for each punch. It also helps you develop walk up punches that can take your opponent by surprise.

Julio Cesar Chavez, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, Jersey Joe Walcott, and George Forman are just a few all time greats who had perfected the walk up punch.

The drills discussed in this video are heavily inspired by what I have seen done at the Ingle Gym but have a bit of my own spin on them. After you learn the drills here, get creative with them and see if you can come up with your own variations. Make sure you spend a good amount of time on each drill and enjoy!
