LAPIP: Treating Dental Implant Problems and Peri-Implantitis

Описание к видео LAPIP: Treating Dental Implant Problems and Peri-Implantitis

Often times, people will have dental implant problems or complications and can notice swelling, redness or bleeding around the implant which is a sign of a more serious infection.

The beginning stage is known as Peri-implant Mucositis which can be compared to gingivitis seen in the gums surrounding natural teeth. The more advanced stage is known as Peri-implantitis which is a serious implant infection that can be compared to Periodontitis or advanced gum disease.

The good news is we can treat this infection with a laser!

LAPIP stands for Laser Assisted Peri-Implantitis Procedure. Peri-implantitis is known as a #dentalimplant infection that occurs when dental implants are not properly taken care of or cleaned frequently or effectively enough.

Our associate Dr. Amar Katranji explained in one of our previous videos how peri-implant disease can be treated. Now Dr. Nemeth goes into more detail about another option for patients who are having dental implant problems.

We take the LAPIP laser to go into the periodontal pocket and kill the bacteria that are causing the dental implant complications. After the pathogens are gone, we use the laser to create a blood clot that actually allows the gum tissue to heal back against the implant.

We understand that replacing a dental implant can be a complicated and long term process due to necessary bone grafting. So if we can save an implant with this procedure, we will take all necessary steps to do so.
