Buses in South Morang and Mernda - Melbourne Transport

Описание к видео Buses in South Morang and Mernda - Melbourne Transport

Soon Mernda in Melbourne's growing northern suburbs will have its own railway line. For a number of years the only way around the area was by bus. What was the public transport network like before the new railway line was built?

In this video I attempt to answer that by filming buses in South Morang, Mernda and surrounding areas at various locations, including Plenty Road, Bridge Inn Road and Laurimar Town Centre in Doreen. The current bus network was implemented on the 24th July 2016 and features six routes; 381, 382, 383, 385, 386 & 387. All routes run every 20 minutes during peak hour (except for the 383) and every 40 minutes at other times. Routes 381/382 and 386/387 run a combined timetable on sections where the routes duplicate one another, increasing frequencies to 10 minutes during peak hour and 20 minutes at other times.

We also visit each of the locations of the three new stations before construction began of the new line. The three new stations are Middle Gorge, Hawkstowe and Mernda. It's amazing to think that only 18 months after I recorded this video the new rail line is almost complete and will soon be taking passengers!
