Miyajima is a small island off the city of Hiroshima. Registered as one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites in 1996, it is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Japan! On top of that, it is also regarded as one of the top three scenic places in Japan. It is no wonder Miyajima is so popular amongst local and foreign tourists.

It is most famous for its gigantic torii gate, which seems to float on water during high tides.

We reached the island in the morning to explore first, before checking in one of the ryokans near Itsukushima Shrine. There is plenty of food available in the day; however, majority of the restaurants close at 5pm. So please take note if you are staying over for a night =)
