Hi everyone, it's Evangeline here at etrailer. And today we'll be taking a look at our Rhino Rack Roof Rack System with the 54-inch long crossbar, the towers for naked roofs right here on our 2015 Chevrolet Cruze. So for your Cruze, you don't really have that many options when it comes to carrying extra cool items. So like those rooftop boxes, if you wanna carry a kayak, if you wanna carry a roof mounted bike rack, what you first need is a roof rack system just like this. So this is gonna be the Rhino Rack Roof Rack System and this is actually my special kit where we have extra long crossbars. So if you need an extra overhang, you need an extra bar space.

This is what we would go with. So let's talk about those features and we'll focus on our vehicle that way you can get the best fit for you. So the preferred kit for a sedan like this is actually gonna be the 49 inch long crossbars. And that's because if you are getting into your vehicle, you wanna make sure you don't hit your head across the bars when you hop in. But if you need more space, let's say more overhang to carry more items, this is what we would go with.

So speaking of that, let's take that measurement. Measuring for overhang, that's gonna be from our tower to right before that end cap and it's gonna be 4 and a quarter inches. This will be a little bit different depending on your front or your rear crossbar but this is gonna be around that length. Now, your crossbar spread, you can't adjust that since you have a naked roof. So from one crossbar to the other, it's gonna be about almost 27 inches.

It's gonna be 26 and 26/32 of an inch because Rhino Rack likes to use millimeters. So with that measurement, keep in mind, if you have accessories that require a specific crossbar spread, that's how much you have to deal with. Your weight capacity with this system is gonna be 110 pounds. You also have these Vortex bars which are designed as modern aero crossbars. What that means is compared to your traditional round or square crossbars, these help have less wind drag and wind noise.

When you're driving down the highway, you won't have as much noise especially with these Vortex strips on the inside, helping with moving that wind. Now let's take our roof clearance measurements and those are gonna be two different measurements. The first is gonna be height from the top of the roof to the bottom of the crossbar. So that is gonna be measured at around 3 inches. That's gonna be the amount of space you have for your clamps. Let's say you have an accessory like a roof box which uses a U bolt and then wingnuts to tighten that down, you actually have pretty good clearance there. The height now added to the top of your roof is going to be around 3 or let's say 4 and a quarter inches. So that's gonna be where your cargo is sitting. If you have skis and snowboards, they're gonna be sitting that high up off the ground plus your accessory. My personal thoughts about this roof rack system is this is probably gonna be the easier of your systems that you can install on the Chevrolet Cruze, because it's pretty simple. You just have different pads. You have those clamps, they all just go together and measure it out, you're done. So compared to other systems which have more tabs, more levers that you have to figure out, this is gonna be the most simple. Now the downside to it being simple is you don't have as much adjustability. So compared to the Yakima Roof Rack where you can adjust the angle of your crossbars, this one you're kind of stuck with that slope. So it really does depend on how much
