This and That: 2018 NHK Trophy (Rika Kihira and Shoma Uno win gold)

Rika Kihira 紀平 梨花 scored a major upset over Satoko Miyahara 宮原 知子and Elizaveta Tuktamysheva Елизавета Туктамышеваat this week's 2018 NHK Trophy. Shoma Uno 宇野 昌磨 managed to triple axel his way to victory and run his fingers through his hair in the process.

It was a week of surprises, as Alexa and Chris Knierim also captured a surprise bronze medal over Kirsten Moore-Towers and Michael Marinaro in pairs and Kaitlin Hawayek and Jean-Luc Baker returned to competition with a gold after Gabriella Papadakis and Guillaume Cizeron were forced to withdraw from a back injury.

In Russia, Anna Shcherbakova and Alexandra Trusova continued to be quad-jumping machines, while Alena Kostarnaia's all-around skating continued to keep her in the hunt. It was another dramatic week of skating and we break it all down on another edition of 'This and That'.
