Hey guys, it's Jake here with etrailer. Today we're gonna be taking a look at and I'm gonna show you how to install the Draw-Tite two inch hitch receiver on our 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L. Adding a hitch receiver to the back of your Jeep Grand Cherokee L is gonna allow you to do a couple of different things. You can use it for bike racks and cargo carriers. If you don't have any room left on the inside of your vehicle, you can put those accessories on the back and be able to haul more items. You can also use it for ball mounts to be able to pull small trailers.

If you plan on using it for that, you will wanna pick up some wiring to go with your hitch to be able to get those lighting signals properly from the back of your Jeep Grand Cherokee L to your trailer. This hitch is gonna feature your standard two inch by two inch hitch receiver tube opening. That is going to accept a lot of different accessories, given that it is the most popular size. Your hitch pin hole is going to be a 5/8" hitch pin hole, which is standard on two inch hitches. The hitch pin and clip do not come with the hitch, but you can find locking and non-locking hitch pins on our website.

(metal clangs) The safety chain loops are for if you decide to tow a trailer, they're nice and large. I do like this bar style, it's very robust. It's gonna hold if you, in case you ever need 'em. You can see we've got a clevis style there and an S hook style there. I will say the S hook doesn't fit as well as our larger clevis, but it still definitely fits.

As far as weight capacities go for this hitch, you're gonna have a max tongue weight capacity of 1,125 pounds of tongue weight. That is the downward pressure on the inside of the receiver tube and a max gross trailer weight rating of 7,500 pounds. That is the trailer plus the load included. It is rated for weight distribution. The weight capacities do not change in that case, which your weight capacity is already pretty high with this, I would definitely check with the owner's manual of your vehicle.

Be sure that you're not exceeding what the vehicle is designed to handle and if your vehicle's weight capacities are lower than your hitch, go with the lowest number between the two of 'em. Now some measurements, so you know what you're getting. From the center of our hitch pin hole to the outermost part of our bumper is about an inch and a half. You shouldn't have to worry about this because that measurement is typically taken for any accessories that need to fold up to the back of the vehicle. You can compare that to the closest part of the accessory to the hitch pin hole on the accessory. That'll tell you whether or not it'll fold up, but I can tell you with being an inch and a half and almost flush with the bumper, you should have no problems with those accessories. From the ground to the top inside of the receiver tube is about 23 inches. That'll help you to decide how big of a rise or drop in a ball mount that you might need or typically we get that for a ground clearance measurement for accessories. So if your accessories sitting out way out here, we don't want you dragging on the ground with those accessories, but with that being 23 inches off the ground, you don't have to worry about that. I think my favorite part about this hitch is that, when you're not using it, you can take your cover, throw it back into place and you'll never even know your hitch is back there. So it helps to keep that factory look on your vehicle, then when you're ready to tow or use an accessory, you pull it off, toss this in your garage or the back of your car, whichever, and you're ready to hook up to your trailer or put your accessory in. As far as the installation goes, this is gonna be a little bit more of an involved install because we will have to remove the rear fascia. With that being said, it might be easier for you to do this type of install at home versus one that you would've to lift the hitch up from underneath. Plus, this is going to give you a much cleaner look. When you're not using it, you can put that cap back on and never have to see it. Hopefully with my assistance you'll be able to get this hitch installed with no problems. So let's go ahead and jump into it. Now, the first thing we're gonna do before we start our installation is you wanna take this rear panel off here, this is your access panel for your hitch and make sure that your vehicle did not come with a hitch from the factory. Now since our vehicle did not come with a hitch, we're going to begin
