Inside refurbished Club 051 which is set for Liverpool return

"People in Liverpool are loyal - they love anything their own that has history and heritage," explains Lee Butler.

Butler is standing on the concreted dance floor of the 051 - one of the definitive nightclubs of the 1990s and early 2000s located in the belly of the 051 building. Just weeks ago the club was a ruin of its former self. Piles of broken metal and glass littered the floor, water from broken pipes flooded the ground and scrawled graffiti covered the black walls.

But after ambitious plans were put into action, the club will soon be returned to its former glory and host events for the first time since 2005. Butler, a former resident at the club during its glory days from 1996 to its closure nearly a decade later, began discussions with the building's owner about repurposing the old space at the start of this year.
