Wussy release this covers EP as a special limited edition record on solid yellow vinyl for RSD 2018.
As they did for their previous RSD 2017 cover of Joy Division’s Ceremony, the band bring their distinctive mix of drone rock, grunge, Americana arrangements and pays homage to the Fab Four, and fellow Ohio artists.

Title track “Getting Better” originally by The Beatles on their Sgt. Pepper album is a brand new recording. “Runaway” originally appeared on the late Ohio singer-songriter Jenny Mae’s "There's a Bar Around the Corner..", and the track was recorded during the Band’s Strawberry sessions in 2010, but had never made it’s way onto anything previously. The cover of “Nomenclature” originated when Cincinnati electro-pop trio Seedy Seeds asked Wussy to contribute a track to a companion release for their 2010 album Verb Noun. During the Left for Dead sessions at Ultrasuede (with John Curley of Afghan Whigs at the helm), the band also did a cover of their favourite Afghan Whigs song "Retarded", initially released for a comp by Summers Kiss Records of various bands doing Whigs covers. The original Whigs song appears on Up In It (1990).
Wussy formed on a dare in 2001 when retired stonemason Chuck Cleaver (formerly of Ass Ponys) and Lisa Walker began playing together as a result of Cleaver’s stage fright. The duo’s first performance was largely unplanned but went without incident, so Mark Messerly was recruited on bass and later Joe Klug on drums and keys. The band’s newest member, John Erhardt, has helped Wussy truly come into its own, adding a David Gilmour-esque layer of heavy shoegaze pedal steel. Cleaver and Walker share singing and songwriting duties, trading lead vocals, harmonising in patterns on top of one another. Both are known for sharing tales of the supernatural combined with day-in-the-life portraits, both disquieting and tranquil.
Recent Press:
might now be among its best soundscaping ones."
Stereogum “..It’s a swaggering, bleary, distorted churn topped off by another virtuoso vocal duet from Walker and Cleaver.”
Pitchfork: 7.8 (of 10) “Compact packages with maximum singability and staying power squeezed into minimal space…”
THE GUARDIAN “Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker find a novel way to attack subjects as tried and tested as flings and break-ups”
UNCUT “Wussy draws on plenty of yin/yang sexual and existential tension, a charmingly shambling, rough-hewn sound, and an army of alternately droning and jangling guitars”
CLASH MUSIC “There is something strangely unique about their own blend of country tinged grunge pop, combining spiky guitars with some sweet harmonies”
THE LINE OF BEST FIT “evokes the golden age of first-gen indie, grunge and alt-country”
ARTROCKER “Both singer-songwriter-guitarists Chuck Cleaver and Lisa Walker are experts at their craft and their amalgamation of Velvet Underground drones, fuzzy college rock, indiepop and alt country is simply sublime.”
SKINNY “a band deserving widespread laudation”
BBC MUSIC “Wussy are certainly a band with an incredibly rich past and, undoubtedly, an equally rich future.”
