Georges Braque: Within Reach of the Hand

Описание к видео Georges Braque: Within Reach of the Hand

Lecture by Karen Wilkin, an independent curator and art critic, New York

"I began to paint mainly still lifes," Georges Braque said, "because in nature there is a tactile space, I'd say almost a manual space." The many still lifes by Braque in The Phillips Collection, made between 1914 and 1952, attest to his life-long fascination with the motif. The changes in his approach over the years offer fresh revelations about this celebrated but still little-understood modernist giant.
