Scuba Diving Florida: Christ of the Abyss in Key Largo

Описание к видео Scuba Diving Florida: Christ of the Abyss in Key Largo

Recently, I went on a scuba diving trip with Rainbow Reef in Key Largo, Florida. We departed on the 46' Tropical Odyssey and had a nice ride out to our first dive site, Christ of the Abyss. The waves were only about 2 feet that day, making entry from the boat easy. Once the group descended to the bottom, we were greeted by a vast, sandy floor with patches of green seagrass.

With good water visibility of 30 feet, sunlight from above provided excellent illumination below. We began navigating towards the "Christ of the Abyss" against a gentle current flowing northeast.

Within ten minutes, we reached the statue. As a first-time visitor, swimming up to the statue had a calming effect, and everything felt peaceful. Exploring around it, I noticed a variety of reef fish. Eventually, we proceeded to explore other reefs in the area. Schools of fish swam past us, and the reefs teemed with life and color.

Before we knew it, everyone's dive computers beeped, indicating we had reached our halfway point on air consumption. We began our way back to the boat, taking our time as the gentle current pushed us along. This time, colorful reef fish darted and hid amongst the corals on the seabed as we coasted along.

We eventually returned to the sandy area with green seagrass and lingered for a while before beginning our ascent. Overall, our dive lasted over 50 minutes, and there was simply so much to see and experience. I highly recommend Rainbow Reef and a dive on the "Christ of the Abyss" if you're ever diving in the Keys.
