The week kicks off on public land in northern Wyoming, on the outskirts of Shoshone National Forest in the Greater Yellowstone region. It feels like summer in the desert mountains before exploring west into a verdant forest basin. Idyllic scenes of the Wyoming backcountry as I push the Jeep along loose and treacherous mountain roads. Some of the best dispersed camping is encountered here. I return to pavement and head to the town of Cody, to resupply, and then continue east into a peaceful and otherworldly remote landscape.
