Food banks across Ohio are grappling with an increased demand for assistance, even as they face significant budget cuts at both the state and federal levels.

The Children's Hunger Alliance is one of the organizations striving to provide food to children in need despite these financial challenges.

In Ohio, 1,800,530 people are facing hunger - and of them 517,450 are children, according to Feeding America.

"It's kind of punching your gut a little bit when you think about it," Michelle Moskowitz Brown, president and CEO of the Children's Hunger Alliance, said. "I know how much families depend on the groups that we serve."

The CHA has been hit with a 33% reduction in state funding, amounting to approximately $2 million. This cut translates to about 1.2 million fewer meals provided throughout the year.
