Peach Tree Still Dormant 🍑❄️

My Donut Peach Tree is still dormant well into Spring. Turns out it may be because it hasn't received enough cold temperature hours to break down it's growth inhibiting hormone, which serves to keep it dormant during Winter months. Peaches can need anywhere from 200-1000 hours below 45 degrees F. (7C.) to break dormancy.

Another cause can be over watering, causing root rot. I dug it up to check on it and thankfully it didn't have any signs of root rot. Though it did have very little new root growth, so it's likely to that it simply hasn't received enough cold temperature hours to break it's dormancy.
