“Above the Sea” is the outdoor section of Mermaid Lagoon at Tokyo DisneySea. Unlike the cavernous, glowing interior of King Triton’s undersea kingdom, this part is set in the open air, capturing a lighter and more playful surface-world atmosphere inspired by The Little Mermaid.

ATMOSPHERE:
The area is compact but vibrant, with bright seaside colors and cheerful theming that contrasts the immersive “Under the Sea” grotto. It provides a breezy, above-water experience before guests dive back inside King Triton’s palace.

“Above the Sea” acts as a transition zone, balancing Mermaid Lagoon’s deeply themed indoor setting with accessible outdoor attractions. It caters especially to younger visitors while still maintaining the storytelling charm of DisneySea.
