The race for the White House is long and complex course. After the Republicans, it is the turn of Democrats officially nominate their candidate or candidate. The Democrats Convention explained in a minute. What is the Democrat Convention? Basically, the final chapter in the race for the White House. After the Republicans it’s the Democrats' turn to come together and designate the person who’ll represent them in the Presidential election. The convention will take place from the 25th to the 28th of July in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and brings in 4,765 delegates. A candidate needs a minimum of 2,383 to clinch the nomination.
Well ahead of her rivals is Hillary Clinton with more than 2,800 delegates. Her closest challenger, Bernie Sanders, is behind with just over 1,800. The Democrats - like the Republicans - have run their primary elections over the last few months, in the lead up to the nationwide Presidential election. The question now - can they get their chosen candidate the support he or she will need to become the 45th President of the United States - and take over from Barack Obama?
