Edward Hernandez, Physical Therapist with Miami Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute,
explains the medical term for frozen shoulder is adhesive capsulitis.
He describes how frozen shoulder occurs. He explains the joint capsule shrivels and starts
stiffening. The patient begins to lose range of motion and mobility in the shoulder and it’s
associated with a lot of pain.

This condition is more prevalent in women above the age of 40. There’s no specific reason that
they’ve been able to find why this happens. Sometimes, diabetes can be associated with it, he
affirms.

Frozen shoulder can improve on its own, he says.
