After India got its freedom in 1947, the new state of Rajasthan made Jaipur its capital.

Jaipur is a popular place for tourists to visit in India. Along with Delhi and Agra, it is part of the west Golden Triangle tourist route (240 km, 149 mi).It is also a starting point for trips to places like Jodhpur, Jaisalmer, Bharatpur, Udaipur, Kota, and Mount Abu.
