Rhossili bay Baeach

Rhossili Bay is the most westerly bay on the Gower peninsula and bears the full might of the Atlantic swells. It is the most consistent surfing beach on Gower, with the biggest waves at the north end at Llangennith. It is a dramatic environment with Rhossili Downs towering above the vast expanse of beach that stretches three miles.

The Gower Peninsula is a very scenic bit of Britain but the views afforded at Worms Head are truly spectacular.
1. There is a large National Trust car park at the end of the road through Rhossilli, which will cost you £6.50 for all day parking or free for NT members through the ticket machine. It can take some 600 cars but will still get full on a fine weather weekend so best to get here before lunch to be certain of getting in at these times. Toilets , pub and shop are also in Rhossilli.
2. The walk out to the edge of the cliff by the NT hut to view the Head and surrounding other headlands is fairly flat and although there is a gravel path direct from the car park to the hut, the walk on the cliff top overlooking Rhossilli bay is a much more entertaining and scenic way of getting there.
3. The Worms Head is accessible by causeway for five hours a day, 2 1/2 hours either side of low tide. Exact times are posted on a board by the start of the walk down to the exposed causeway. It’s not easy to get across but the rewards of getting to the top of the Head and the views given are great.
4. Do not be fooled by the term causeway. This is not a paved walkway, but the exposed seabed with the walk entailing jumping across the rock and coral formations and is challenging on the ankles and calfs. So, as many others have said you need to be agile and mobile to attempt it. Proper footwear is advised but you can do it in beach shoes, it will just take you twice as long.
5. Take some water with you, especially if you are attempting to walk over to and around the Head.
