Justin J. Shaifer is a PhD student at Columbia University and the Executive Director of Fascinate Inc. a 501 (c)(3) non-profit created to excited underrepresented students about STEM.

Also known as Mr. Fascinate, Justin is a popular science communicator and STEM education specialist, having reached thousands of students and educators with keynotes, digital content and workshops.

In this video, Mr. Fascinate explains why he travels the world exciting students about STEM.

"When I was a kid, I remember rappers and athletes being pretty much the only people portrayed as having amazing careers, having careers worth working hard for.

I didn't think anything about scientists or people in STEM or technology.

It wasn't until I got into a STEM career, and had all these amazing experiences, that I truly realized what I was missing out on as a student.

So I thought to myself, how would someone like me have been inspired to pursue a STEM career? Well first you gotta put on a show.

So that's what I do. I travel the world exciting students about STEM, because I believe that a cure for cancer, or a solution to world hunger, or a solution to climate change might be trapped inside the mind of one of these students who has yet to be inspired to pursue STEM.

I inspire to inspire that kid."
